Seattle University is a Jesuit Catholic university with a student population of 7,500 undergraduate and graduate students. More than 1,600 undergraduate students live in residence halls. The university employs approximately 1,000 faculty and staff members. The 48 acre campus is located in the First Hill neighborhood of Seattle—about one mile east of the city's downtown core. The main entrance to Seattle University is at 901 12th Avenue (the corner of E. Marion St. and 12th Ave).
Seattle University was founded in 1891 and is the largest independent university in the Northwest. The university comprises eight schools and colleges: Arts and Sciences, Science and Engineering, Nursing, Education, Theology and Ministry, Law, Business and Economics, and the Matteo Ricci College.
